Clery Information
Compliance Information
The Department of Public Safety has implemented policies to guide our actions to remain compliant with the Clery Act. Compliance is not the sole responsibility of DPS, however. Many Departments and Divisions within the University have additional responsibility and have implemented policies to be in compliance. This section is intended to place all required policies in one place to inform and educate the reader about the Clery Act.
The Annual Security Report (ASR) is required to have policy statements only. The following information will take you to the full policy representing the statement in the ASR and any documents providing a record of compliance.
Policy Documents
Questions or concerns regarding the University public safety policies can be submitted to the Chief of Public Safety. Butler University makes every attempt to keep this web site up-to-date. Individual policies can change throughout the year for the following reasons:
- Annual Revisions
- New Local, State, or Federal mandates
- Best practices or new information for the specific area of oversight denoted in the Policy.
University employees, affiliates, visitors, and students are bound by the most current policy from the Department or Division vested with the authority to implement. Failure to update this Compliance page due to delay or receiving information is not cause to follow an outdated policy. University employees and affiliates should always seek clarification with their supervisor on the latest policy revision.
